As of today (September 5) the public hearing and review of the application for 'Willowbrook Place' has been cancelled. The City is now on task to provide public notification and a comment period. This fight is long from over but this gives more time to thoroughly look over documents related to the application.
Stay tuned for more information as your support is still needed and appreciated!
Previous information - you will recognize this as very similar to the application from Duane Smith submitted more than two years ago. Smith ended up filing a lawsuit against the City of Richland for requiring an Environmental Impact Statement that was dismissed in August 2016. Now Smith is applying once again for this 96-unit multi-building apartment complex with a slightly revised plan that includes 'averaging' on the required 150' wetland buffer. This development will adversely impact high quality wetlands along the west fork of Amon Creek on the northern section of Amon Creek Natural Preserve, and the wildlife, plants, and all that makes ACNP a critical wildlife corridor. Email Shane O’Neill (Senior Planner for the City of Richland) at email@example.com, to receive future notification of anything related to this application.
